Sunday Bridges - Red Covered Bridge

This beautiful red covered bridge was built in 1863 and was registered in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on April 23, 1975. The bridge is 149 feet long and spans Big Bureau Creek just north of Princeton, Illinois. It is one of five remaining covered bridges in Illinois (another one is in Princeton, too!) and is still open to traffic.

I love the sign that hangs over the top of the bridge from days of yore.
